The different types of roulette

Whether it's an online casino or a land-based casino, there are many different types of roulette wheels. In land-based casinos, the roulette wheels vary by country or by continent. This is not the case for an online casino, which can afford to provide players with all the different types of roulette wheels that exist around the world.

Moreover, thanks to the Internet, live game providers like Evolution Gaming are becoming more and more imaginative in creating totally new ways to play roulette. Given the number of game modes created by Evolution Gaming, we have decided to present them to you in one article.

European Roulette

European Roulette is probably the most popular roulette game mode at online casinos. This roulette has two colors (red and black) that alternate on numbers between 1 and 36. There is a 37th number represented by 0, which displays the color green.

French Roulette

French Roulette is best known to regular roulette players. It has 37 numbers as well as all the bets that we find on European roulette. However, a rule called "La Partage" has been added. This rule states that if the number 0 falls, half of the sum of the bets with equal stakes (black/red, even/odd, 1-18/19-36) is refunded.

Apart from the addition of a rule, a different arrangement of possible bets on the table is observable.

American Roulette

This is a very common roulette in the biggest casinos in the world and especially in Las Vegas. On this very special roulette wheel, we can find a 38th number (00) added to the 37 numbers of the classic roulette wheel. This number does not pay more than the other numbers, but it does bring into play a unique American roulette bet: the "Five Bet".

The Five Bet allows you to cover five numbers (0, 00, 1, 2, and 3) at the same time and pays on a 6:1 ratio. To place a bet on the Five Bet, place your bet on the outside line of the betting grid between 0 and 1 (at the point where the lower right corner of the number 0 touches the lower-left corner of the number 1).

Except for the "Five Bet", the other bets are exactly the same as European Roulette with no change in payout ratios.

Lightning Roulette

Lightning Roulette is a roulette game mode created from scratch by Evolution Gaming. It is available at a large number of online casinos and has an average of more than 2,000 players connected simultaneously.

Its principle is very simple. It is based on the same principle as classic roulette with the addition of a presenter. At each turn, a ball is propelled and the presenter activates a lever on the wall to randomly select full numbers that will be electrified. Each electrified solid number has a multiplier assigned to it ranging from x50 to x500. When the ball falls into one of these electrified numbers, all players betting on that (solid) number win their bet multiplied by the electric multiplier.

Immersive Roulette

Immersive Roulette uses the same rules as European Roulette. There are no significant changes in the game mode but more in its presentation. Several high-quality cameras are available and offer different viewing angles allowing players to feel completely immersed in the experience.

Speed Roulette

This roulette mode is designed for impatient players who want to maximize their playing time. Speed Roulette allows you to play more than 120 roulette spins per hour, which is equivalent to a time saving of about 50% compared to European Roulette. All the actions, movements, and words of the dealer have been designed to optimize the time of each round. There is no dead time, as soon as the ball lands, the dealer collects it and throws it back in the following seconds.

Double Ball Roulette

Here is another one of the unique games that Evolution Gaming can offer: the roulette wheel with two balls. We have previously seen a roulette wheel with multipliers, so why not a roulette wheel with two balls?

Its principle is not complicated because it has the same base as a classic roulette wheel.  At each turn, two balls are propelled simultaneously thanks to a compressed air propulsion system. This is when the change for this roulette wheel appears, on the betting table (left) it is possible to bet on payout numbers with a 300:1 ratio. In order to obtain this win, both balls must land on one of the numbers selected by the player. The two balls and this change of course have an impact on the classic roulette bets, which pay less than on a classic roulette wheel.

Auto Roulette

As its name suggests, this roulette wheel is an automatic roulette wheel. It spins continuously without any croupier. The ball is propelled by an air propulsion system. This roulette wheel allows players to play between 60 and 80 games per hour.

Instant Roulette

With Instant Roulette, Evolution Gaming goes even further in terms of imagination and innovation. Thanks to its 12 automatic wheels, Instant Roulette allows players to play at their own pace because the betting time is unlimited. As soon as the player presses "play now", he is sent to one of the 12 available wheels that is about to close his bets. For players who want to play almost instantaneously between each round, they can decide to activate the automatic bet or press the "rebet" function after each round.
