The different types of blackjack

What is blackjack?

Blackjack is a very well known card game in the world of online and land-based casinos. The goal of this game is very simple: to have a higher number than the dealer. However, there are a few rules. You must not exceed the sum of 21 or you will lose your hand directly, no matter what the dealer has. For his part, the dealer must draw until he has a sum of cards equal to 17 or more. Like the players, once the dealer goes over 21 with his cards, the game is lost to the dealer and the players on the table win the hand, regardless of the sum of their cards.

However, there are many other rules to follow in classic blackjack. To find out more about them, Lucky7Bonus has written an article about them which you can find by clicking here.

On which sites do you play blackjack?

At Lucky7Bonus, we offer a wide range of online casinos where you can play blackjack.

The different types of blackjack

Like roulette, blackjack also offers many different games. Lucky7Bonus has decided to list them for you and explain the differences between all the games.

Blackjack

Blackjack is the basic casino game. The dealer and the player must come as close as possible to 21. The person with the highest amount wins the game. However, the dealer must draw cards until the sum reaches a minimum of 17. The player does not have to go to 17. Side bets, i.e. bets on the side, have specific values that differ from other types of blackjack. Played daily by Bidule, the "BJ" is a good way to boost your balance if your luck is with you. Depending on how you play, the RTP of classic blackjack ranges from 99.2% to 95.9%.

Infinite blackjack

Unlike classic blackjack where you can't exceed a certain number of people at the same table, infinite blackjack has no limits. Thus, the dealer will deal cards and each player will decide whether to draw/stay or double. The choice of other players can have a great influence on your game. In fact, the dealer only uncovers his second card when all players have decided to "stay" or "bust".

Unlike blackjack, the bets and winnings on the side are completely different in Infinite BJ.

  • 3 hot: Returns if the total of your first two cards and the dealer's visible card is between 19 and 21.

  • Any Pair: Returns if your two cards form a pair.

  • 21 +3: You win money if your two cards plus the dealer's card form a flush, straight or three of a kind.

  • Jump: If the dealer bust, i.e. exceeds the sum of 21, then you win your hand plus the bet you placed on "jump".

Charlie's rule" is a well-known rule in the world of blackjack. It is only valid in infinite blackjack. The rule is simple to understand: if in one round of play you manage to get less than 21 with 6 cards, then you win the game directly, no matter how much the dealer has. For example, if you reach 19 with 6 cards and the dealer has 20 or even 21, you still win your hand.

Power blackjack

Power blackjack is a game released in 2020 by Evolution Gaming. Like all blackjack games, the goal is to have a higher number than the dealer to win the game. However, there are a few different rules of the common game.

The big differences from a normal blackjack game are as follows:

  • You will be able to double, triple or even quadruple your bet after receiving your two cards and even after a split.

  • Unlike the normal game where all cards are available, in power blackjack the number 9 and 10 are removed.

Like infinite blackjack, the power blackjack table has an unlimited number of players.

Side bets are also different from normal blackjack. However, they are the same as infinite blackjack, namely :

  • 3 hot: Returns if the total of your first two cards and the dealer's visible card is between 19 and 21.

  • Any Pair: Returns if your two cards form a pair.

  • 21 +3: You win money if your two cards plus the dealer's card form a flush, straight or three of a kind.

  • Jump: If the dealer bust, i.e. exceeds the sum of 21, then you win your hand plus the bet you placed on "jump".

Finally, the RTP of power blackjack is between 98.8% and 94.71%.

Speed blackjack

Speed blackjack is exclusive to Evolution Gaming. Unlike the other varieties of blackjack that Lucky7Bonus told you about during this article, speed blackjack retains all the rules of blackjack. Side-bet, number of cards, no rules are modified or changed. The only difference is the following:

  • The fastest person to click on "draw" or "double" will receive a card, no matter where the person is on the table.

In the basic rules of the card game, the dealer deals the cards from left to right (when you are in the dealer's place). The dealer moves on to the next person, only when the player on the far left has decided to finish his hand. In speed blackjack, the dealer doesn't have to worry about that anymore. As soon as a player wishes to have a card, then he gets it if he is the fastest.

Like blackjack, the player only has a few seconds to decide his fate. Then the game continues.

Small difference, once a game ends, the player has only a few seconds to bet, unlike normal blackjack where he has a little more time. Depending on how you play, the RTP of speed blackjack varies between 99.2% and 95.9%.

Free bet blackjack

Free bet blackjack is also a creation of Evolution Gaming. As the name implies, doubling or splitting a card will be "free". This means that it is the casino that "lends" the money to you so that you can double your hand. However, there are a few conditions that must be met.

  • You will be able to double your cards for free if the value of your hand is between 9, 10 and 11 in your draw. If you have a value above or below the above, you will be able to double, but the money will be taken from your balance.

  • Free division is also available. So if you get a pair, it can be split for free. Only pairs of 10's, Jacks, Queens and Kings cannot be split.

When you opt for a split or a double, the rules change. Usually, as soon as a dealer passes over 21, you automatically win the game. By taking the options set up by the casino, you will only win the game if the dealer has a hand smaller than yours and does not exceed 21. If the dealer's draw is greater than 21, then your bet will be refunded. This condition is only valid for people who decide to "double" or "split" for free. For all other players these are the normal rules of blackjack.

As far as side bets are concerned, there is no change between the side bets of Infinite blackjack, power blackjack and free bet blackjack. Just like infinite blackjack, free bet blackjack also has the "Charlie rule".

The RTP of this blackjack is one of the smallest. It is between 98.45% and 94.12% depending on how you play.
