Champions League, Europa League: the groups are finally known!

That's it, all soccer fans were burning with impatience and this wait is finally over: the draw for the group phase of the most beautiful European competition, the Champions League, and its little sisters, the Europa League, but also the little last one, the Europa League Conference, which makes its debut this season. French clubs are represented in all three competitions, with no less than six teams qualified: the French champion Lille, its runner-up PSG are the French representatives in the Champions League. Monaco, eliminated from the playoffs by Shakhtar Donetsk, joined Olympique de Marseille and Lyon in the Europa League, while Stade Rennais became the first French club engaged on the road new Europa League Conference.

For the fans, it is a real relief! They finally know who will be the opponents of their favorite club. And the least we can say is that these competitions promise us posters more than attractive! So, who will have inherited the group of death or who will have had a rather lenient draw? If you haven't yet seen who will be the opponents of Paris Saint-Germain, LOSC or Olympique Lyonnais, Lucky7Bonus comes back to you on the draws of the three European competitions!

A group synonymous with reunion for Paris

After a final two years ago and a semi-final last season, the ambitions are once again high for Paris Saint-Germain. With the recent arrival of one of the best players in the history of soccer, the Argentine Lionel Messi, PSG is clearly the favorite of the competition.

But for that, it will have to get out of this very tough group A, where only former opponents of PSG appear. First of all, there is Manchester City, the reigning English champion and the Parisians' tormentor last season, who will be looking for a better result than last year when the Citizens failed to beat Chelsea in the final. The first opponent will be a difficult one because PSG has never beaten the English club in its European history. Then, there is RB Leipzig that PSG had already met in the group stages last year, for a defeat and a victory. The Germans will be outsiders in this group and will play their chance to get out of this group. Finally, the Belgian club Club Brugge, which PSG had beaten twice in the group stages of the Champions League in 2019.

A complicated but affordable draw for LOSC

Another French club involved in the most prestigious of European competitions, Lille OSC. As defending champions, the Lille club inherited hat 1, with a UEFA coefficient of 14,000, the lowest coefficient in history for a hat 1 club. With only one group exit in their six Champions League appearances, it is certain that the Dogues will be looking to do better this season.

And while it is far from easy, LOSC has a good chance of doing well in this group G. The French champion will meet the last fourth of La Liga, Sevilla. For the history, the two teams have met three times on the European scene, each time in the UEFA Cup, the ancestor of the Europa League, with two victories for Lille and one for Sevilla. Also in this group, a club also belonging to the Red Bull group, RB Salzburg. A first for the Dogues who have never faced the Austrian club in European Cup. As well as the last club in this group G, Vfl Wolfsburg, which returns to the Champions League after five years and a quarterfinal loss to Real Madrid in 2016.

Group B: group of death?

In the other groups, we note a very attractive group D with Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Shakhtar Donetsk and the Moldovan small thumb of Sheriff Tiraspol. A real baptism of fire for the last Moldavian champion who will have to face the giants of European soccer.

Group E will also feature a top-of-the-table clash with Dynamo Kiev, SL Benfica and two of Europe's biggest names: Barcelona and Bayern Munich. The battle for the top spot in the group promises to be intense and fierce. It remains to be seen how Barcelona will fare after the loss of their Argentinean jewel, Lionel Messi. Note that the last confrontation between the two clubs ended with Bayern spanking Barcelona, with an 8-2 victory for the German club!

But what many consider to be the group of death is indeed Group B! It is simple, each of the four teams present can claim a qualification for the next round. So who will come out on top in this group of death, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, FC Porto or AC Milan? And who will remain on the sidelines?

Europa League: Lyon spared, more complicated for Monaco and Marseille

The fans of the French clubs involved in the Europa League had to be more patient, because the draw for the group stage took place the day after the Champions League.

And the draw could not have been more lenient for Olympique Lyonnais. The French club, placed in hat 1, avoided the majority of the big teams present in the competition. Peter Bosz's men are clear favorites in Group A and will face Scottish champions Rangers, as well as Norwegian side Brøndby IF and Sparta Prague, who already faced a French club last year, LOSC.

If Lyon can be satisfied with this draw, it was more complicated for AS Monaco and Olympique de Marseille. Despite their presence in hat 1, the Monegasques have inherited teams that should not be underestimated: PSV Eindhoven, Real Sociedad and SK Sturm Graz. If the battle for the qualification looks difficult for ASM, it looks even harder for Marseille! Marseille knew they would have to face at least one big team, given their presence in the third hat of the Europa League. They were served, because they will have to face Lazio but also the last runner-up of the Turkish championship Galatasaray and Lokomotiv Moscow, two teams that promise more than complicated trips for the men of Jorge Sampaoli.

Europa League Conference: heavyweight for Stade Rennais

Newcomer in the world of European competitions, the Europa League Conference has also had the right to draw its group stages, the very first in its history.

France is also represented in this new competition, with the presence of Stade Rennais, which has ensured its participation by leaving Rosenborg in the playoffs and hopes to do well in this competition that seems very open. But for that, they will have to pass the group phase, where the Rennais will have to face the English of Tottenham, one of the big favourites to the final victory of this first Europa League Conference. The two opponents of Rennes seem more affordable, they will face in addition to the London club, the Vitesse Arnhem and NS Mura, which acts as a small thumb of the competition.
