The connections work in cascades. Each time a symbol connects, it disappears to make room for new symbols. A round of the game ends as soon as no more connections can be made. 

They work only from left to right. Your number of ways changes with each round. The more ways you have, the more a connection will pay, and vice versa.  

The feature in the base game is triggered by the wild symbol. Behind it, a multiplier x 2 or x 3 will appear. On the right, you will see a multiplier box.
