Fnatic buries G2 at the gates of the Worlds
Last week on Lucky7Bonus we told you about the LEC (League of Legends European Championship) with Fnatic who had already eliminated the Vitality team, cutting off their hopes of reaching the League of Legends World Championships "The Worlds". Last weekend was a busy one, with some big names battling it out. Big changes are coming to the League of Legends World Championship. Check out the latest League of Legends eSports news on Lucky7Bonus.
Clash of the Titans: Fnatic VS G2 Esports
Two great teams were expected to be in the thick of things: G2 Esports and Fnatic, who were playing for their place at the League of Legends World Championship. Of course, these legends of LoL competition met in a head-to-head match during the Playoffs of the LEC Summer Split 2021.
The challenge was big for the Fnatic team, as G2 Esports is a legendary team that has already participated in every League of Legends World Championship since 2016. But Fnatic was not impressed, this team has the most number of appearances in the Worlds, as many as Team SoloMid.
Yet, G2 Esports won directly by winning the first game of BO5. A little pressure for the Fnatic players who responded immediately in the second game, with a nice KDA of 13/0/4 for Upset, the team's AD carry. The back and forth would go on, weaknesses would be targeted in each team, to find themselves in the tricky situation of 2-2.
This is the final game, the very last game to define which team will go to the World Championships and to continue to the LEC semi-finals. The losing team is going to have a real disaster, no mistake should be made. However, G2 Esports' toplaner Wunder unfortunately lost his face-off, giving Fnatic the opportunity to crush the G2 Esports team in the 27th minute.
Fnatic qualified for the LEC semi-finals and a place in the League of Legends World Championships. Big disappointment for the G2 Esports team, they needed a winner at the end of the day. Terrible scenario for Martin Larsson aka Rekkles who had joined G2 Esports, after leaving Fnatic, to hope to win the Worlds. Ironically, he won't even be able to participate.
Adam, the newest toplaner on the Fnatic team, has impressed during these playoffs. Formerly a member of the Karmine Corp team, with whom he won the last European Masters, his recruitment to Fnatic has allowed him a magnificent rise on the competitive League of Legends scene.
Adam's stats during the Summer Split are impressive with a KDA of 2.7 with 45/45/78, his participation in eliminations stands at 71.7% and a nice 43% participation on the first blood. At only 19 years old, he has become an important and essential part of the Fnatic team. In just 1 year, he went from Division 2, to the LFL with the Karmine Corp and then finished on the LEC to validate the qualification of Fnatic at the Worlds.
Will Adam receive an award at the Riot Games presentation? Adam has a great level of play and has helped his team easily climb the Summer Split, perhaps he will be rewarded as the MVP of the LEC Summer Split 2021?
However, Fnatic and player Adam will have to get back on track quickly before thinking about the World Championship, as they can still win the European Championship title by facing Team Rogue in the semi-finals. The match will take place next Saturday, August 28th at 5pm and the final will be held the next day at the same time. We invite you to follow these matches on the French Twitch channel of OTP LoL.
The League of Legends World Championship in Europe?
No official communication has been made by Riot Games, the information comes from the well known eSports journalist Travis Gafford aka FionnOnFire. As he is well known in the industry, we can trust him, the information seems to be quite correct.
The League of Legends World Championship is the most anticipated event for players and fans of the game. The best teams in the world compete against each other to put on a great show. The 2021 edition was to be held in China as the previous year. The final was announced on November 6, 2021 in the city of Shenzhen in China by Riot Games. The stadium can accommodate more than 60,000 people.
Of course, the health situation complicates the whole organization of the World Championships. The teams of the LCS (the North American league) seem to have difficulties to get visas for each player. Riot Games might decide to organize the 2021 Worlds in Europe and make an official announcement in the next few hours or days. Now we just need to know where exactly?
