The Ligue 1 recap of the week!

It's been two weeks now since the French Ligue 1 Uber Eats championship started again, for the greatest happiness of the fans. This new season marks the return of the public in the stadiums. A happiness for the players, after almost a year and a half of playing in front of empty stands.

At Lucky7Bonus, we are also delighted with the return of the League 1 Uber Eats. And we even thought of you, by offering you this recap of the soccer weekend that just took place. If you missed anything this weekend, don't worry, it's all in this recap!

Monaco does not digest the Hake

In the opening match of this second day of Ligue 1 Uber Eats, we found again Monaco, which moved to the lawn of FC Lorient. After having ensured its presence in the playoffs of the Champions League, the Monegasques were looking to finally launch their season in the league, after a disappointing draw against FC Nantes (1-1).

It is therefore with a conquering spirit that the ASM began this game. But, even if Niko Kovac's men had the ball in their hands (72% of possession), the Breton defensive block managed the pressure of their opponent. And even better! On a well-executed counter-attack, the Merlus managed to get a penalty, following a foul by Ismail Jacobs on the Lorient striker Terem Moffi. The Nigerian then beat Alexander Nübel to score his first goal of the season and give his team the victory (1-0).

Successful return for Christophe Galtier in Lille

It was a small event on this weekend of championship, Lille hosted Nice. The opportunity for the new coach of Nice, Christophe Galtier, to (already) meet his former players, with whom he won the championship title the previous season.

And the least we can say is that "Galette" did not make feelings against his former club! During a match in which LOSC did not exist, the Gym won largely on the score of 4-0, thanks to a double of its Danish striker Kasper Dolberg but especially to the XXL performance of Amine Gouiri, author of a goal and an assist.

Paris shines under the eyes of its Messi

The match between Paris Saint-Germain and Strasbourg was the occasion for the Parisians to meet their public of the Parc des Princes. But it was especially the occasion for the fans to attend the presentation of the recruits of the club, and in particular that of Lionel Messi. The Argentine was welcomed by the cheers of his new supporters.

On the match side, the PSG players wanted to honor their new teammate. And they did it in the most beautiful way, by winning 4-2 against their opponent of the evening, who have not demerited by offering a match of very good quality. Note the excellent performance of Kylian Mbappé, who finished the game with an assist for Pablo Sarabia and being responsible for the own goal of Ludovic Ajorque. Not bad for the one who is announced on the departure and especially in the sights of Real Madrid.

Lyon was tamed by Angers

Another team that was looking to finally get their season going was Olympique Lyonnais. The Gones were traveling to Angers, a team that has not beaten Lyon since 2015! It was therefore a golden opportunity for Peter Bosz's men to show that they can be a serious contender for the championship.

But it is absolutely the opposite that happened at the Raymond Kopa Stadium. In this duel, it was the Angevins who emerged victorious, having given a more than excellent copy. The players of the former assistant of Lyon Gérald Baticle started the game with a conquering spirit, which left OL untouched. In the end, SCO won 3-0, thanks to goals from Sofiane Boufal and young Moroccan Azzedine Ounahi, who was playing his first match in Ligue 1 and who scored a sublime goal a few minutes after seeing his shot hit the post.

No winner but a great show between Marseille and Bordeaux

Olympique de Marseille and Girondins de Bordeaux, a classic match between two clubs with a long history. The confrontations between the two clubs offer us very often high level matches and rich in goals, and this meeting was no exception!

The match was quickly marked by the discomfort suffered by the Girondin Samuel Kalu, who collapsed on the pitch after only five minutes of play. Like the Danish team during the Euro, the Nigerian teammates surrounded him to preserve his privacy, followed by Jorge Sampaoli's men. Kalu was then replaced by Remi Oudin.

When the match resumed, Marseille quickly took control of the game by putting their foot on the ball, forcing their opponents to discover themselves. It was OM who opened the score thanks to their Turkish recruit Cengiz Under (1-0), before doubling the score a few minutes later, thanks to their captain Dimitri Payet (2-0). Stung to the core, Bordeaux came back from the break with much more offensive intentions. As for Marseille, Vladimir Petkovic's men were rewarded with two goals scored almost in quick succession, thanks to Timothée Pembele and Rémi Oudin. OM thought of taking the lead through their Serbian winger Nemanja Radonjic, but he was logically refused for an offside. Final score 2-2 between Bordeaux and Marseille, who finished the game with ten men after Leonardo Balerdi was sent off.

The other matches in brief!

In the other matches of this second day of Ligue 1, we could see a very prolific match between Reims and Montpellier. The two teams left each other on a parity score (3-3) after a game with an amazing scenario.

Nantes continued its successful start to the season with its first win of the season, beating FC Metz 2-0. Antoine Kombouaré's men follow up their good draw against Monaco with four points out of a possible six.

Troyes travelled to Clermont in a match between the two promoted teams of the season. And the reigning Ligue 2 champion was the victim of the hot start of the season of Clermont striker Mohamed Bayo, author of the two goals of his team. Clermont Foot has started its first season in the elite perfectly, with two wins in two games.

There was no winner in the Breton derby between Brest and Rennes. Rennes thought they had done the hardest by opening the score in the 84th minute thanks to Sehrou Guirassy (0-1). But it was without counting on the determination of their rivals from Brest, who snatched the point of the draw via a goal of Jeremy Le Douaron (1-1).

It was also a great match between RC Lens and AS Saint-Etienne. Two teams that are aiming for a European qualification at the end of the season. And if there was no winner between the two teams (2-2), they regaled the public of the Stade Bollaert-Delelis with a high level match.

On the menu next week

If you thought you were going to have a good rest next weekend, you'd better cancel it, because there are some exciting matches on the agenda for the third day of Ligue 1. The match between OGC Nice and Olympique de Marseille will be intense, Lyon will try to launch their season against unbeaten Clermont-Ferrand, as well as Lille who will travel to Saint-Etienne. AS Monaco will also try to get their first win of the season when they host Lens.
